The English Rule and our Education System

What? You are not comfortable with speaking english. You are of no worth. Heard these lines earlier and thought about how your skills and intelligence is associated with speaking english? If yes, then you are at the right place. Welcome back to ShekharArena!

In the last blog, we saw a candidate struggling with his interview just because he was a bit less confident in speaking and understanding english. He always knew what he was supposed to say, but he wasn't able to speak well.

English is not associated with intelligence
Yes, you heard it right. This mentality needs to be declined soon. Just because someone is not confident enough to speak a language publicly does not mean he is worthless, or any lesser intelligent than someone who does. People in Germany speak german, in Japan they speak Japanese but Indians speak english, no? Why?
Why are we ashamed to speak our native/regional languages? We have a diverse culture of languages. There should not be any shame in speaking hindi, marathi, bhojpuri, maithili or any of the languages/dialects we have. We should see English just as a means of global communication, that's it.

Our education system should be more application-based. Students should understand where trigonometry, reflection of light or distilled water is actually used in real life. Further to this, it should focus on agile skills instead of being a marks based race. Hence, the next time someone associates your intelligence with speaking
skills, just ask them a question-Why is it so?
Let me know if you get any answers.

Be clear, confident and agile. Rest comes with time.

Please let me know what you think of this communication skill. Also, tell us your experiences.

Till then, stay smiling as you are right now. 😀

  1. Very much relevant! People should understand the difference between necessity and essentiality of speaking English.

  2. But still we need a common language to communicate with diverse people. So much diversity in language and culture is not present in the countries mentioned in the blog. So they can use their most spoken language as an official language. It could have been Hindi for us, but whole South and part of west India revolted against that, and rightly so. In interviews also, basic communication skills are only required, you don't need to have a high understanding in grammer or vocabulary.

    1. Yes, we need a common language to communicate globally, but it can only be seen as a communication mode.

  3. It is not bad to b a student of a foreign language but we must understand the importance of Our national and regional languages as well. Thank You 💐 for this writing. And government of India has also showed a glimpse of your idea in new education policy. Keep it up.

But this blog is not about neglecting importance of English, it's about the obsession we have made out of this.

  6. Bro... We all know this and still we all are following the same path. As i am working as teacher. If you speak to much of Hindi even people will start judging you...
Even in our capital city Delhi if you speak Hindi in bihari touch. They will not hire you... Mere bache ko bihari bana dega...
Who all these people are? These are all of us only.
And even the government hasn't taken any step for this.
They accepted word India instead of Bharat...
Hopefully we have got a new education policy but i i know this also going to failure...
Are German japanese are not Global. Then why we need to be global by speaking English.
I was reading a book in which math problems were written in Sanskrit sholoka. I couldn't read that... Who is responsible for this? It's me or my english speaking society.

    1. The education system and we are both responsible. Let's change this together!

  8. As long as you can communicate with others by any media should be sufficient. But I agree we have this barrier and taboo in our society. Think it will take lot of time to get rid of this in the mentality or may be it will never happen that we respect our regional things. Language is just an example.

Adheen-The Dependent | Not a Movie Review

"Ice, that is brittle can be shattered, while water flows and adapts" . This means 'टूटता कठोर है ,कोमल नहीं'. Have you ever thought why most of our parents want us to guide throughout our childhood and teenage till the time we stand on our feet? Think about this and let  me know in comments. Vacations and Parents I think dependency is a relative term, you may be dependent on someone in one context, independent in other. To all the people living away from their homes, please respond on these two questions? 1. When was the last time you visited your home? Here, home means the place where your parents live. 2. If you visited in last 6 months, did you sit still with them and talked about how life is going, what problems are they facing, are there any health issues or anything else without peeping in your phone? You think they are fine, but wait they are not. Adheen, a short film directed by Yash Verma talks about these intricacies. Rajendra(Sanjay Mishra) fre...

Solitude and Loneliness

Don't you think the root cause of most of our problems is the underlying loneliness that most of us experience in our daily lives today. Let's analyse what is the reason behind and derive some practical solution to this. Basically there are two situations i.e, loneliness and Solitude. In loneliness, you are alone and worried about having no one by your side while solitude is experiencing a whole new world when you are alone. You experience happiness when you are alone. You don't need a second person to be happy. The root cause of our emptiness is that our foundation for living is based on lies. We are stuck in the loop of lie spread by ourselves only and continue exhibiting dual personality. Actually we try to complete our emptiness through other things, actions and relationships (people)- don't we? As a consequence, we become more dependable on those things, actions or people. This dependency could be at physical, psychological, financial or even at mental level....

Bihar and the Education System | Bihar mein bahar h

He was completely demoralized, analysing where did he go wrong. Was his preparation not apt enough to crack the interview? Didn't he had the technical knowledge, the profile required- all this was whirling in his head, while he sat in disguise with a cup of tea. Welcome back to Shekhar Arena!  Hope you are doing fine. Today, I will tell you a story- a story of our friends, students and the teachers! There is this friend of mine who was attending an Off-Campus placement drive of a reputed MNC. He did his graduation in computer applications from a renowned institute of Bihar. 6 out of 49 students cleared the aptitude test. There he met another guy about whom he said later that guy was technically sound than him. This guy did his graduation from same renowned institute, located in another city of our state. The technical round was a WhatsApp video interview and the interviewer asked scenario based questions. He was dumbstruck, didn't understand the questions well-answers of...
