Are you one of those people who spend 4-5 hrs on social media daily. Then this is a must read for you.
Starting with what is social Media?Wikipedia says "Social media are Interactive computer-mediated technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas, career interests and other forms of expression via virtual communities and networks. The popular ones are Facebook(and its messenger),Instagram,Twitter,Snapchat,Youtube,LinkedIn,Google+,Pinterest and Tumblr to name a few.
Now ,why are we talking on this? Is it really significant.A research says "By 2020,60% of our country's total population will be present on any one or more if these platforms." On an average,a general user spends 3-4 hrs daily on these platforms.
And guess what the returns on this investment are 0,and even negative in various scenarios. Guessing how?-- let's do a simple calculation:
1.3-4 hrs of our valuable 24hrs that would never come back.
2. There are no economic returns.
3.Have you ever felt that our energy level starts reducing and we start feeling lazy when we are addicted to these platforms. This can also make our body stiff and backpain is normal. Then there are some eye sight problems too.
4. Distraction in studies-Yes,it happens!(I have felt it on personal level.
5.What are we searching for on these platforms-a.Friends-think again, then.
b.Happiness-Wrong again, you can have instant moments of pleasure. That's it.
I think this calculation makes it easier to understand the need of a mutual conversation on this real-time issue.
SOLUTION:Now,is there any solution to this?
The solution lies in self questioning. This is what we don't really do.Ask yourself-What I am doing on these platforms and how is it related to my goals/aspirations.You need to have a sense of urgency to avoid these platforms.Sense of urgency means understanding the importance of time-not theoretically but practically. This leads to research on "What is the purpose of life?".This purpose should not relate t earning money(6 figures or more)- yeah,it's a part of the purpose but not the most relevant one.Our actions should reveal(In jagron,we call it revealed preferences) that our time is passing by and we are aware of it. And no,I am not against the use of these platforms.Use them to understand how's the lifestyle of the people who are successful in the sector you are aspiring to.Use them to learn more skills, ethics and practical aspects of things.
Another Important question is When to think on this and start self-questioning.-NOW.People usually think that they will start these things when they attain financial freedom, but trust me it's a part of the process-more relevant part.
That's it for today.Hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead.Thank You!

ReplyDeleteyeah I agree with this.overall everything has a gud n bad on them. The main point depends on us we are the users of all .we should know the gud n bad of them and the most important Is Limit. If we do anything within the limit then it never goes wrong. so indirectly all depend upon us how we can make our life worthfull n valuable how much we can learn n from where we learn .On which we should find our real happiness. And try to learn from everything even from the small mistakes also.

DeleteReally a valid point to raise. I don't know why we basically call it social media. One point of time we feel connected but again it makes us apart due to our judgemental attitude. If we talk about our friends and family affairs..we are getting disconnected now
ReplyDeleteIrritation rather saying addiction leads to many of mental anxiety
